Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual awareness day celebrated around the world. The day is dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of transgender and gender-nonconforming people while raising awareness of the work that still needs to be done to achieve trans justice.
It is especially necessary to raise awareness of the challenges experienced by Black trans women and Black transfeminine people, who exist at multiple intersections of marginalization and experience disproportionately-high rates of housing and employment insecurity, as well as police violence, due to gender and race-based discrimination. Trans justice must include Black trans women.
Black Transwomen, Inc offers a wide selection of women’s support through our EmpowerHer services (including but not limited to mentoring, healthcare, education, and career training). Information about these services can be found here.
