We are heartbroken by the passing of our Monica Roberts, mourning with so many of you around the country in our community as the hours pass.

Black Transwomen Inc and the National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition family are committed to ensuring an honorable memorial for our civil rights leader securing funeral cost as needed and grief support to community members during this time including providing travel accommodations for those who may need assistance in attending Monica’s funeral in Houston, Texas to pay homage.

Monica Roberts is a pillar of our organization and has been a part of our family from our beginning serving as a founding Black Transwomen Inc Boardmember.  We love her and are honored to celebrate her life.

It is reported that Monica died of natural causes on October 5, 2020.  We will provide updates on funeral arrangements on this page as plans are confirmed by the family.  Individuals and organizations that wish to donate to the memorial fund may contribute here.
